Nursery HALO Project
The Healthy Active Little Ones programme is designed to support parents/carers and Nurseries focus on the important health and wellbeing of our young generation.
Our statement of intent and support for the HALO project can be found here.
On this page you will find useful help, information and links to support you in bringing up your children to be 'Healthy, Active Little Ones'.
1. Healthy Eating
At Cradle Hill we have a strong focus on healthy eating and food. This is seen in our snack and lunchbox expectations and in the activities we carry out in school. Please follow these links for help in providing your child with healthy snacks and lunches.
Healthy Start - this scheme can provide help to families when buying food or milk.
Do remember that many snacks can be a choking hazard, so it is always important that children eat with an adult nearby and food is suitably cut up.
HALO'S healthy eating activity guide has plenty of fun activities to try at home:

2. Physical Activity
All children, under or over 5 should minimise the amount of time spent being sedentary (ie. sitting still). It is important that we find fun and simple ways of keeping fit and moving.
HALO offer plenty of advice and guidance on getting active below:

3. Social and emotional health and wellbeing.
Family Hubs offer great support to parents/carers, with parent groups and workshops as well as some fun activities for the children. Take a look here to learn about our nearest Hub and the activities they offer.
Activities to boost your and your child's emotional wellbeing can be found in this useful document from HALO.

4. Accident Prevention
It is vital that we teach our children about safety from an early age. This could be road safety, safety at height, risk management in the playground and even online safety. This document provided by HALO, offers some fun ways to start to introduce the concept of safety to your child.
